Award Categories & Criteria

Entries are open to all financial ACFA members and non members of ACFA. Projects (entries) must be completed at the time of the nomination.

Projects (entries) must have been completed between 31 July 2018 and 31 July 2019.

Entries are now closed.  

There are three major award categories: Design of the Year 2019, Outstanding Achievement of the Year 2019 & Cabinetmaker of the Year 2019. Winners from each of the categories below are in the running for a major award category. 




BEST KITCHEN PROJECT (NEW BUILD)

Please ensure that you only use this form for Kitchen Projects in Newly Built Homes/Apartments etc.

  • Up to $35,000
  • $35,001 to $60,000
  • $60,001 - $80,000
  • Over $80,001

The contract price is to reflect the total price paid by the owner including GST. Entries must include all prime cost items, cabinetry, splashbacks, bench-tops, lighting and trades. Do not include the cost of appliances. 

Criteria: Functionality, Innovation


The winner from these categories will be in the running to win the Cabinetmaker of the Year Award 2019

BEST KITCHEN PROJECT (RENOVATION)

Please ensure that you only use this form for Renovated Kitchen Projects

  • Up to $35,000
  • $35,001 to $60,000
  • $60,001 - $80,000
  • Over $80,001

BEST BATHROOM PROJECT (NEW BUILD)

Best Bathroom New Build is only open to bathrooms installed in newly built homes/units/granny flats etc.

Criteria: Functionality, Innovation

BEST BATHROOM PROJECT (RENOVATION)

Best Bathroom Renovation is only open to Renovated bathrooms.

Criteria: Functionality, Innovation

BEST BATHROOM DESIGN

BEST ALFRESCO PROJECT

Criteria: Functionality, Innovation, Outdoor Alfresco Manufacturing Compliance


The winner from these categories will be in the running to win the Cabinetmaker of the Year Award 2019

BEST COMMERCIAL PROJECT

Projects (entries) are split into two categories, Hospitality/Retail & Office/Health

(Individual Commercial Furniture Pieces can enter via the Best Free Standing Furniture or Best In-Built Furniture categories)

Criteria: Functionality, Innovation 


The winner from this category will be in the running to win the Cabinetmaker of the Year Award 2019

 

BEST FREE STANDING FURNITURE

Project (entries) could include but not limited to: dining room tables, chairs, buffets, coffee tables, beds. Residential and Commercial individual pieces only.

Criteria: Design, Functionality, Innovation 


The winner from this category will be in the running to win the Design of the Year Award 2019

 

BEST IN-BUILT FURNITURE

Project (entries) could include but not limited to: wall units, fixed storage, entertainment units. Residential and Commercial individual pieces only.

BEST LAUNDRY PROJECT


Criteria: Functionality, Innovation,

BEST SOFT FURNISHINGS/INTERIOR DESIGN

This category is for soft furnishings/interior design used within a group or room setting. A group or room setting could be (but not limited to) Bedroom, lounge, dining, office, verandah. 

Soft Furnishings/Interiors could be (but not limited to) upholstered furniture, curtains, blinds, bedding, cushions, rugs (Individual soft furniture/upholstery pieces can enter Best Free Standing Furniture or In-Built Furniture categories)

Criteria: Design, Functionality, Innovation

WORKPLACE CHAMPION OF THE YEAR


Recognising our "behind the scenes" workers, and the work done by our trades in the Furnishing Industry going above and beyond the job.

Award Eligibility: Employees working part-time or full time in a business support or trade position. This person would work predominately within an office based position or within the workshop or installation. Roles may include, but not limited to: CAD/Design, Administration, Bookkeeping & Accounts, Sales & Marketing and also qualified/non-qualified trade employees.


The winner from this category will be in the running to win Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award 2019

 

APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR 

Recognising outstanding achievement in our tradespeople of the future.

There are two categories to choose from: Cabinetmaker and Furniture

Award Eligibility: Entry is open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentices. Apprentices must be either enrolled under the Australian Cabinet & Furniture Association (ACFA) workplace based apprenticeship system OR their employer MUST be a financial ACFA member. There is no restriction on entrants age.
