A curated collection of the latest trends and design ideas

Every year, the global design industry turns its attention to Milan Design Week — and for good reason.

From a show that began in 1961, through its expansion years, to become the city-wide cultural festival it has become today, Salone del Mobile.Milano and Milan Design Week is today considered the world’s largest design event and a global media and cultural platform.

For Australian interior designers and cabinet makers, Milan remains more than a source of inspiration. It is an early indicator of where interior design is heading globally, and which ideas are likely to resonate locally. Yet the real value lies not in copying trends wholesale, but in understanding which concepts can realistically translate into Australian projects, manufacturing methods and client expectations.

This year’s EuroCucina and International Bathroom Exhibition delivered a clear message: design is becoming softer, more sensory and more deeply centred around the user experience.

Walk through the show on a guided tour with Connect magazine editor Melanie Gardener as she reveals a curated collection of the latest trends and design ideas together with commentary on how design is evolving and what impact this is likely to have in our Australian market.
