Upskill and be recognised for your experience
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programs are available to people currently working in the industry that have not had their skills, knowledge and experience formally recognised.
RPL is an assessment process that provides candidates with credit for skills, knowledge and experience gained through working and learning. It can be gained at any stage of their lives, through formal and informal learning, in Australia or overseas, through work activities. It involves collecting evidence and presenting the skills and knowledge you already possess.
ACFA offers flexible and self-paced delivery options for our RPL program with prominently online learning through our Learner Management System. The flexibility is designed to allow you to complete training around your current commitments.
This means our RPL Program is available to anyone across Australia.
Evidence Based Assessment allows for previous experience to be formally recognised as part of a national qualification. Our assessors are required to verify the required skills and knowledge based on the relevant training package.
Examples of evidence include, but are not limited to:
Work References
Professional conversations
Just like everyone that looks to complete an RPL, I had everyday work commitments throughout the entire process.
ACFC asked in-depth questions, and requested evidence of past employment and tasks/jobs. Providing this information allowed ACFA to prepare only the modules that I needed to complete instead of redoing an entire apprenticeship. I had previously completed my apprenticeship in New Zealand as a Boat Builder and Marine cabinetmaker, however to attain the Australian qualification, other modules required completion.
From day 1, Joe Sibly’s energy and support was unwavering. His ability to break each module into bite size pieces allowed me to fulfil the tasks required. Joe’s regular contact and communication allowed me to schedule RPL tasks around my busy work and family commitments. I would like to say a huge thank you to Joe for his perseverance and guidance throughout my RPL process.
