Understand how to Apply for ACFA Apprenticeship Training through an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider.
ACFA delivers nationally recognised cabinet and furniture making apprenticeship training through our workplace-based training model.
Our industry-specialised trainers work directly with apprentices in their employer’s workplace, providing practical training and assessment supported by online learning and regular trainer contact. This allows apprentices to develop their skills using the tools, machinery and processes they work with every day.
With rolling intakes available throughout the year, apprentices can commence their training without needing to wait for set enrolment periods.
ACFA currently offers apprenticeship training across NSW, ACT, Victoria and South-East Queensland, with funding and eligibility varying by location.

How does ACFA workplace-based apprenticeship training work?
ACFA’s workplace-based training model brings structured apprenticeship training directly into the workplace.
Rather than relying on traditional block-release training, our approach combines practical workplace learning, trainer visits, one-on-one support, online learning and structured assessment.
Training is delivered in accordance with the apprentice’s individual training plan and the requirements of the nationally recognised qualification.
Learn in the Workplace
Practical training and assessment takes place in the apprentice’s workplace, allowing them to develop skills using the machinery, tools, materials and processes relevant to their everyday role.
One-on-One Trainer Support
ACFA trainers work directly with each apprentice during scheduled workplace visits, providing practical demonstrations, guidance, assessment and support throughout their training.
Online Learning
Online learning and theory activities complement practical workplace training, allowing apprentices to continue progressing between trainer visits.
Training Relevant to Your Business
Within the requirements of the nationally recognised qualification, training and assessment can be contextualised to reflect the equipment, products, workflows and activities undertaken in your workplace.
Progress Monitoring and Support
ACFA works closely with the apprentice, employer and workplace supervisor to monitor progress, coordinate training and identify areas where additional support may be required.
ACFA is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90432) specialising in training for Australia’s cabinet making, furniture, joinery and related furnishing industries. ACFA has been registered as an RTO since 1997.

Successful apprenticeship training involves more than simply delivering a qualification.
ACFA as an Industry Association and RTO, works closely with employers, workplace supervisors, apprentices and trainers throughout the apprenticeship journey.
Support can include:
- Regular communication with employers and apprentices
- Scheduled workplace training and assessment
- Monitoring apprenticeship and competency progress
- Coordination of training requirements
- Apprentice mentoring and support

Recognition of Prior Learning
ACFA also deliver RPL opportunities for our Qualifications. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programs are available to people currently working in the industry that have not had their skills, knowledge and experience formally recognised.

Kitchen Bathroom Laundry Renovators licence program (KBLR)
ACFA provides the training on the specific units required to achieve the necessary qualifications to apply for a KBLR Licence through the NSW Fair Trading / Building Commission NSW. This can also be done via Evidence Based Assessment allowing for
previous experience to be formally recognised.
